Kintsuji
Kintsugi is a Japanese art form in which breaks and repairs in pottery are treated as part of the object's history and beauty. Broken pottery are carefully mended by artisans with a lacquer resin mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. The repairs are visible, beautiful, and an antidote to the culture of disposability.
Kintsugi means "golden joinery" in Japanese (sometimes the process is called Kintsukuroi, which means "golden repair."). I believe our broken parts can be brought home to our hearts, through spiritual connection and healing. When healing occurs, it is much like the golden lacquer attaching our broken parts back together, creating a beautiful, interesting, and complete self. We are all complete, beautiful, and worthy of connection, sometimes we just need a guide to bring us back.
